Best Sports on TV and Stream this Weekend (July 7 - July 10, 2023)
The sporting summer season keeps rolling on, with huge tournaments and events happening wherever you look. Even the NBA Summer League is in full swing, with teams around the league looking for their future stars and potential game-changers for the 2024 season. But for now, let’s turn our focus to the present, and take a look at the best games on this weekend around the world of sport.
Grand Slam: Wimbledon (June 28th - July 16th)
After a fantastic first few days at Wimbledon, including the triumphant return of SW17 legend Roger Federer (unfortunately only appearing in the crowd, rather than on the court), Wimbledon 2023 has been a cracker of a tournament so far. The two big favorites on the men’s side, 23-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic and the young upstart and US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, have already flown through to the third round with ease, and there doesn’t seem to be many that can live with them at the moment.
The big feel-good story has been British tennis hero Andy Murray winning his first round match with a dominant performance, and he has been drawn against the Greek big-hitter Stefanos Tsitsipas, the fifth seed. Murray, who is not seeded this year, even though he won two Challenger tournaments on grass recently, was hoping to avoid such a big name so early, but he will be confident of beating Tsitsipas to continue his run of good form recently.
On the women’s side, there have been shocks as American sensasion Coco Gauff and eighth seed Maria Sakkari lost in their first and second round matches respectively. Top seed and dominant Pole Iga Swiatek has breezed through to the third round as she chases her first Wimbledon title. She has been the form player in the last year, and she is fully expected to continue her recent success in the next week.

Gold Cup: Quarter-finals - USA vs. Canada (July 9th)
As we approach this Sunday's highly anticipated Gold Cup quarterfinal match, soccer fans across North America are set for an epic face-off between the USA and Canada.
Team USA, coming off an impressive performance in the group stage with two wins and a draw, their last two matches being 6-0 victories, stand as formidable opponents. Showcasing solid defense, an opportunistic offense, and their characteristic grit, the USA look primed to keep their momentum going. In their last match against Trinidad and Tobago, star striker Jesus Ferreira bagged a hattrick, and will hope to repeat his exploits this time.
Canada, meanwhile, has proved to be a team not to be underestimated. Despite a tougher group stage experience, with a single win and two draws, they've shown resilience and the ability to find their rhythm in critical moments. Forward Liam Millar will be key in this match, as he finally rediscovered his goalscoring exploits against Cuba in their crucial 4-2 win in matchday 3.
Expect an exciting clash as both teams vie for supremacy, with the USA’s tight-knit defensive line challenged by Canada's dynamic forward players. On the flip side, Canada's defense will have to be on high alert to curb the USA's attacking prowess.

Formula 1: British GP (July 9th)
As the motorsport world gears up for the high-octane spectacle of this weekend's British GP in Formula 1, all eyes are firmly set on Max Verstappen, the current leader of the pack. With an imposing 229 points garnered from 9 races and 7 wins under his belt, Verstappen is poised to push the limits on the historic Silverstone circuit.
Teammate Sergio Perez, holding the other two wins, provides Red Bull a formidable front in the championship race. Yet, the British GP has a reputation for unpredictability and drama, and other teams are beginning to find their pace.
Aston Martin, Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari, although trailing behind, are showing promising signs of resurgence. Each team is making strategic adjustments, hoping to close the gap and disrupt Red Bull's early dominance.
Given the high-speed straights and challenging corners of Silverstone, it’s a crucial test of both machine performance and driver skill. With high stakes and the mid-season point approaching, this weekend’s British GP is shaping up to be a classic.
